There are so many wonderful ABC books that have been published. A good friend of mine even collected ABC books. Using these great books is a wonderful way to read with your child while enjoying great art, learning the alphabet and just having fun.
On my website, Two2Read.com, I have many weekly fun learning activities that use ABC and other children’s books to teach reading. Several of them involve using the alphabet in art, cooking and more.
Here are a list of 10 of my favorites. What are your favorite ABC Books?
1. Alphabet Mystery by Audrey Wood
2. ABCDrive! By Naomi Howland
4. Dinosaur A-Z: For kids who really love dinosaurs! by Roger Priddy
5. Eating the Alphabet: Fruits & Vegetables from A to Z by Lois Ehlert
6. Alphabet City by Stephen Johnson
7. I SPY Letters by Jean Marzollo
8. The Turn-Around, Upside-Down Alphabet Book by Lisa Campbell

My kids really love “I Stink.” It’s an ABC book about trash.
It’s very silly, and funny, and I think the kids and I nearly have it memorized.

Why have I not seen the Eric Carle ABC book before? We just got some of his books yesterday from the library. I love the art in his books. My kids like Dr. Seuss’s ABC and Buginnings: ABCs (with Hermie & friends). I also have a Swedish ABC book that I read to them sometimes.

I love the illustrations and the interesting rural life ABC items in “Country Road ABC: An Illustrated Journey Through America’s Farmland” by Arthur Geisert. “LMNO Peas” by Keith Baker is also really cute. However, my all time ABC fav is “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.”

I’ve never seen the Eric Carle ABC book! I love Eric Carle books and can’t wait to see it! My favorite ABC book has been Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. I like the rhyming aspect and the children participating with repetitive phrases. We have a large coconut tree in our room where we add letters as we learn them and we do a cooking activity at the end of the unit! I read the book all year long as we learn new letters and sounds.
