What are your favorite children’s books about mothers?

What are your favorite children’s books about mothers?

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, I was thinking about my favorite children’s books about Mothers and decided to share them with you.

I came up with these selections:

1. A Chair for My Mother by Vera B. Williams

A young girl tells how she, her mother, and her grandmother save up all of their spare coins in a big glass jar toward the day when they will buy a much-needed easy chair. (Their old furniture and their possessions were destroyed in a fire.)

2. Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman

A confused baby bird asks all the animals the question until he is reunited with his real mother.

3. The Cap that Mother Made written by Esther Friend

A vintage children’s book. Based on a Swedish folktale.

What are you favorite books about Mothers? Please share them here with me in your comments!

Hands down, ‘Love You Forever’ by Robert Munsch. I still can’t read through it without tears, in fact I have a colleague who has a 26 year old now and she was telling me about this book and began tearing up. It truly captures the bond between a mom and her baby.

  2. I’ll LoveYou Forever by Robert Minsch :)

  3. Alida, I hopped over from Blogfrog Hip Homeschoolers to visit you. The 3 books you listed here are among my favs. The other one is the Hungry Caterpillar. It’s so wonderful for you to use your prof skills to train your grandkids.
